10 Steps to Making Bread in a Bread Machine

If you don't own a bread machine you might be wondering if it requires a lot of effort. What I've done is put together 10 easy steps to show you a typical experience baking bread using a bread maker. Hopefully this gives you a feel for what you'll to be doing once you get yourself one.

1. Wash your hands

The first thing you want to do is wash your hands and clean your area. You don't want to make yourself sick, and you don't want undesirable substances (hair, other food, etc) in your bread.

2. Get out your measuring spoons, cups, etc.

Its best to prepare before you get started. Get out your measuring cup and a measuring tablespoon. Have all these clean and available to you to prepare ingredients.

3. Prepare your ingredients

It's best to have everything measured before you start dumping items into the bread machine. Now some people just do this as they go along, just like with any other recipe, so this is entirely up to you.

4. Wipe clean inside of bread pan

You want to wipe clean the inside of the bread pan. You might have dust or old bread material from a previous baking experience. Just take a wet cloth or paper towel and wipe it clean.

5. Place liquids in first

You can use whatever water you want, but for the best tasting bread I'd recommend using purified, bottled, or filtered water. Tap water often contains chlorine, and other chemicals which could influence the taste of the bread. This is of course depended on thoughts on purified water but it does make a difference.

You want to also place eggs, melted butter, or whatever other liquids you want to use. In terms of butter make sure its cooled before you place in the pan to avoid affecting the yeast.

6. Place dry ingredients into pan

Now you want to place the dry ingredients in the pan. If you already have everything measured out in bowls this should be an easy step. Just put everything in one at a time. In regards to fruit, nuts and grains, many bread machines have timers to tell you when it's appropriate to add them in. If yours does not you want to wait until the dough has formed before you add these ingredients.

7. Insert yeast

Next you want to add the yeast. Make sure the yeast does not get wet before it's added or you will waste the batch. One bread maker that handles yeast differently is the Panasonic SD-YD250. This bread machine actually has a yeast dispenser which drops the yeast into the batch at the perfect time. Unfortunately most models don't have this feature so you will have to drop the yeast right after the dry ingredients.

8. Place pan inside of machine

Next you want to place the pan inside the machine. Make sure it's secure and then shut the lid.

9. Set the Timer and bake the bread

Once the lid is closed plug in the bread machine if its not already plugged in and turn on the timer or select a program/cycle. The many options depends on what bread machine you have, what type of bread you want to make, and if you are using a custom program. Now your ready to bake!

10. Remove bread from bread maker and enjoy

Once bread has finished baking, let the machine sit for about an hour to cool down then open the lid. Take the pan out and attempt to slide the bread out into a plate. Slice the bread and use saran wrap to keep it fresh. Since bread machine bread has no preservatives it tends to go bad sooner so its best to either eat it within 3-4 days or freeze the bread.

Making bread in a bread machine

After taking a look a look at the steps involved you can see how accessible it is to make bread using a bread machine. It basically comes down to: cleaning, getting out measuring tools, placing ingredients inside the pan, dumping in the ingredients, baking, and removing the bread.

With all the different types of bread available, from delicious banana bread, to sour dough, and fruit and nut variations, baking bread is easy and delicious.

Bake a loaf for me and enjoy.

A Waffle Is the Best Habit

This article is about waffles but it starts with a bad habit. That's right. I had a bad habit and I was determined enough to be able to kick this habit. I used to smoke 2 packs of cigarettes a day. There were no clubs for me. No restaurants, no pubs... I used to sit at home, watch TV and smoke like a chimney. One day I said "That's enough, I will quit!" My buddies told me that if I quit smoking I would gain weight so I went to a doctor. He told me not to worry, took my last pack and threw it in the thrash. Some of my impatient readers are asking now, "We are here for the waffles, where are the waffles?" We are coming there.

The first few days were very hard for me. I didn't know where to put my hands, I tried to remember how to breathe, I had some nervous breakdowns and so on. Then I saw that waffle vendor in the middle of the street and had my first waffle since my childhood. Since then whenever anyone asks me if I would like to light a cigarette, I answer, "Did you say cigarettes? I don't smoke anymore. I only eat waffles."

In psychology, psychologists talk about something called substitution. This is when an addict kicks his habit and puts some other bad habit to substitute it. My substitute for cigarettes is waffles which is at least not a bad habit. When you replace one passion with another, you learn things no one else cares to read about.

Did you know soldiers used to use their shields as a waffle iron before Jesus was born? Those from Naples, Italy say that the same soldiers used their shields to make pizzas with tomatoes but if you ask them they would claim first Napolitano Pizza was made in the Stone Age, so I wouldn't trust them about degustation history if I were you. Anyway, I know, that was useless information. One of the most useful things I learned is that, the most delicious waffles are made in Belgium. So I ordered the best waffle maker money can buy from Belgium. Now I can make my own Belgium waffles anytime I want. Also my buddies were right. I gained some weight but I'm not sure whether it is because of quitting cigarettes or taking up waffles.

Can You Cook Without an Apron?

Men go out and earn the bread while women stay in the kitchen and bake it, this may have been true in the 1950's but not anymore. Today anyone can do anything. Cooking is no longer the sole responsibility of the women of the house but is now something even the man of the house will do. It is not an uncommon sight these days to see a man in a barbeque apron grilling burgers in the summer. If you want to look good while you turn over your stakes then you should get yourself an apron. Mens aprons are slightly different from women's aprons and apart from making your man look good an apron will also keep him clean and save his clothes from flying oil and marinade.

The main difference between mens and women's aprons is the cut. Mens ones are usually longer and do not have any frills or lace in their design. Not all men can pull of a pink apron or an apron with flowers on it. Kudos to the ones that can and for the one who can't don't worry, they are available in simple solid colors like black, red and navy blue. If you find the plain solid one too boring then you can go for an apron with a print. There are mens aprons with the some really nice prints and quotes available in the market. One of my favorite quotes for a man's apron is 'Real Men Do the Dishes'.

You can find a wide variety of mens aprons online. The fact of the matter is that you can cook without an apron but an apron has a lot of practical uses and helping you stay clean is only one of them. Most of them are fire resistant and com with a kangaroo pouch in the front for you to keep things in. Get yourself an apron today. You can find the perfect one online.

Diverse Cooking and Recipes of Different Countries

Italian
Italian cuisine is among the finest expression of their culture. It's ultimate trademark is that they cook food with its best and freshest ingredients. This is the reason why Italian food varies in different regions since they depend on the place's prevalent product. Typical Italian dishes are composed of pasta with all kinds of sauce such as tomato sauce, fish or white sauce, etc. During Christmas they have ravioli in brodo and a fruit cake called panetonne. At Easter they serve a dove-shaped cake called Colombia. These are proofs that they are inclined in pastries and baking. Traditionally, midday meal, which usually happens at around 1pm to 3pm and last for a couple of hours, is the most important meal of the day. It is a three to five course meal that starts with antipasto which is mainly a small serving of pasta. Then, it is followed by the main course which can be meat, poultry or fish and a contorno which is a serving of vegetables. It ends with a dolce or dessert. Most Italians prefer water and wines.

Chinese
Chinese cuisine varies in every region but most Chinese dishes are cooked with less meat and more vegetables and are cooked in a short period of time. They also serve the dish mostly in small servings and bite sized portions. Dim Sum which means small snack is often practiced. Beijing is known for its Beijing Duck, Cantonese for its steamed boiled and stir-fried foods, while Sichuan is noted for its spicy food such as Gongbao chicken. They have 3 varieties of noodles that are made from egg, wheat or rice flour and two types of noodle dish called lo mian and chow mian. Soup and tea has been a part of the tradition too.

Arabian
Arabaian cuisine mainly used lamb and chicken because pork is highly prohibited. They extensively use dairy products especially yogurt called labneh. Herbs, spices and greens are also mixed in their food. They have three basic meal on regular days: breakfast lunch and dinner. Breakfast is often a quick meal of bread and dairy products, lunch is considered the main meal, while dinner is the lightest meal. During Ramadan, there are two classification of meals and consumption of sweets and fresh fruits are served between these two meals. Futuur or fast-breaking is taken at dusk when fasting is over, while Sahur is the meal eaten just before dawn when the fasting must begin. Hot drinks such as coffee and tea are preferred than cold drinks.

American
We cannot really define what is the trademark of American cuisine. They have been influenced and accepted a lot of dishes from other countries. They love almost everything may it be Italian or French, Chinese and even southeast Asian dishes. They eat hotdogs, pizzas, pasta, tacos and pie. They eat most kinds of poultry, fruits and vegetables. They love to drink beer and sodas.

There is really a huge variety of cooking and recipes across different places, and they are definitely all worth tasting.

Improve Your Diet - Add Dried Fruit

Fruit should be part of everyone's diet. It is a super food that can keep you healthy, will not make you gain weight, and will keep you regular. Without fruits, such as apples, oranges, strawberries, pineapples and kiwis, a lot of dishes would also taste a lot blander.

It is a fact that the human body needs fruit. Regrettably, it is not always possible to go to the store to pick out a few fresh pieces every day. While this is frustrating, it should not make your life miserable, as you have another option to get your daily dose of fiber. Simply order a few batches of dried fruit online.

Although doctors will recommend fresh fruit first, they will not object to dried fruit. Dehydrated cranberries, blueberries or cherries have wonderful qualities, which are good for us. Kids love it often better than the real deal. They think it is candy, which they can also take to school without getting in trouble.

Aside from promoting good digestive health, dried fruit has a number of distinct advantages:
• Fiber - We all need fiber in our diet for good digestive health and regularity. Fiber also benefits those who are trying to lose weight.
• Carbohydrates - We need carbohydrates to give us energy. It is jam-packed with them. They can be eaten as a snack or pick-me-upper.
• Vitamin C - It is an excellent source of Vitamin C, which will improve your immune system. It will also help wounds heal quicker, encourage connective tissue health, and alleviate the symptoms of health conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, and high cholesterol.
• Antioxidants - It is loaded with antioxidants, which will among others, fight cancer and promote cardiovascular health.

As the studies into the benefits of regular and sugar-free dried fruit continue, more advantages will come to light.

Low Carb Diet Plan That Is Really A Neat Trick

You are not going to believe how easy this is, and just how well it works, especially, when you are a woman in your twenties and thirties (and for men it works even better).

Whether you are eating at home or in a restaurant, have 1/2 the carbs that would be in a standard, regular meal. OK. So, what does that look like? The simplest thing to keep in mind is when you have a bun or two pieces of bread for a sandwich, only eat half the bun or one piece of bread. You can still eat the sandwich! So what if some fingers are keeping the sandwich together by pressing on meat or something else instead of bread! You can use a napkin after you are done eating!

When it comes to hot, starch dishes, you need to ensure the standard portion is no more than a cup (8 ounces). So, that would mean you'd get 1/2 a cup (4 ounces). But you are still getting it! And you'd be surprised at how satisfied and successful you can be if you also follow these 10 supporting rules when you having a "1/2 Carb Day" or even just a "1/2 Carb Meal" (which counts too!):

(1) When you eat, only eat (do not watch television or read or have a conversation or drive at the same time)

(2) Take small bites & chew every bite of food no less than 8 - 12 times

(3) Avoid white flour and sugar products. You can and should have 2 to 3 servings of fresh fruit daily. If a very sweet piece of fruit (like orange or apple), one serving is 1/2 a piece.

(4) Feel free to double up protein portions with a given meal if still very hungry. Keep lean (and avoid highly salted and deep fried items). And do not go over 12 ounces total.

(5) Add 1 tablespoon cold pressed Flaxseed oil to salad or soup or veggies or protein at lunch.

(6) Keep total calories for day to roughly 1200 to 1500 (female) 1500 to 1800 (male) and total carbs to 40 to 80 grams a day.

(7) Drink six to eight 8 oz glasses of water daily and feel free to liberally squeeze in fresh lemon or lime.

(8) Have no soda. Have no more than 1 to 2 caffeinated beverages daily. Only drink pure fruit juices (4 oz). Add 4 oz water (dilute all fruit juices). Avoid alcohol.

(9) Do not use Splenda, Nutrasweet, or Sweet and Low type products.

(10) Do exercise that you do not dread 3 x a week for 20 to 40 minutes. Walking swiftly is a fine thing to start with. Adding some simple weight bearing exercises to this is better still.

Of course, any dietary or exercise related changes you are contemplating making should be first discussed with and approved by your health care professionals including doctors and nutritionists beforehand.

3 Reasons to Use a Catering Company

Hiring a catering company is something we usually think about for a big event, like a wedding. But there are lots of other times you can get great results from using a Metro Detroit catering company to provide food for your event. Caterers have experience with all kinds of different events, so they can provide exactly what you're looking for.

Use a catering company to provide food for your important meeting or presentation. It adds a touch of class and professionalism to any important meeting if you provide food that is delicious and also arranged nicely. There is a huge difference in how people will perceive a professionally put together refreshment table versus a cold cut tray from a supermarket. And most caterers can setup everything before your meeting and then never bother you while the meeting is in session. You simply walk in to a beautifully assembled refreshment table and when you leave it will be broken down and removed for you. This is a great way to help make any presentation be received more openly.

Use a catering company to provide food for a party at home. Most caterers offer trays of food that you can order from them and then pickup and take home. This is a perfect way to buy food for a party at your house. You can buy snacks and cold cuts for a football game or buy an elaborate appetizer course that your guests can enjoy while you're cooking the main courses for a dinner party. A caterer is able to provide thoughtfully designed food trays at a reasonable price, and it will be an entirely different selection than you're able to either make yourself or buy at a supermarket.

Ask a caterer to help you with a romantic rendezvous. Imagine being able to pick up a gourmet picnic basket and then surprising your partner with a romantic picnic lunch. A caterer is the perfect person to be able to assemble a gourmet picnic basket that both of you will always remember. Or they could provide you with an elegant and romantic dinner for two in a surprising location. If working late keeps you two apart, take the romantic candlelight dinner to her and surprise her. Remember, your caterer is a professional who has tons of experience creating perfect dinners. And most of them are very affordable, not much more than a nice dinner at a restaurant.

In our busy and fast-paced world, using a caterer can be a great way to create an elegant food setting wherever you happen to be. Hiring a caterer is no longer just for weddings and graduation parties, they can create the perfect menu for whatever it is you're doing. And that perfect food is the first step to creating a lasting impression.
